For many consumers, the Internet of Things is focused on smart gadgets they carry, but a recent merger between Evrythng and Gooee shows that this new connected universe affects more than just smart phones and fitness trackers. In a recently announced merger, Gooee and Evrythng will partner to create new LED lighting products that use connectivity to communicate with one another and assess the local environment to better light the buildings they are installed in. In an article entitled “Evrythng partners with Gooee in LED Internet of Things,” David Meyer (@superglaze) of Gigaom indicates that the partnership will make the most out of both company’s strengths. The article was published on February 24 and looks at the way these lights will interact with each other using the technology and advances offered through both companies.
According to the article, the lights will be able to report on their own operating condition, react to changes in the environment and use sensors installed in and near the lights to detect motion and other phenomena. The article points out that Gooee, with its lighting technology, and Evrythng, with its cloud connections, are a perfect match in creating this smart lighting system. Combined, the two companies are creating what they are calling an “operating system for smart connected lighting.”
