Prank-O Design Challenge Looks For Hilarious Ideas That Stick

Prank-O announces its first-ever design challenge for college students where an idea on a sticky note can turn into the next innovative product of the season.

The Prank-O Design Challenge is searching for original ideas awarded to the most creative concepts that will make the entire family laugh. The novelty brand known for its amusing gift boxes has put out the call for fast-hitting, funny ideas that allow the company to get out of the box and into other avenues of hilarity. The top three winners will be awarded cash prizes and all submissions have the opportunity for a lifetime royalty up to 3% if Prank-O markets the idea.

“Ask yourself, ‘What’s the funniest thing you saw today?’ It could be the next novel prize-winning invention, the likes of the Whoopie Cushion, Rubber Chicken and Pet Rock!” said Jeremy Smith, Marketing Manager at Prank-O. “The more realistic your idea is to be manufactured, the better chance you have at making it as a finalist!

“We’re asking students to submit their ideas on a supplied pdf that includes a 3.5 x 3.5 sticky note. They can be rough sketches, a short-written note or anything that conveys what they think would be a great product. Just make it fun enough for the whole family to enjoy!”

The ideas can be a joke or specific piece of content or imagery that can be humorous on an existing product (i.e. a mug or throw pillow) or a non-existent, unconventional idea not yet on the market.

The submission window is now open and the deadline for entries is Oct. 12. Students must utilize a .edu email address to qualify. The top five finalists will be announced on Oct. 19 and have until virtual pitch day on Nov. 9 to make improvements on their idea and prepare a three-minute video. Judges will announce the three finalists on Nov. 12. Cash prizes are $500, $250 and $100 respectively.

An ABC Shark Tank veteran, Prank-O has ventured into gift boxes and other accessories with a varied collection all with laughter at the center. The brand doesn’t take themselves too seriously, but they are genuine about wanting to get creative juices flowing for the next fun, family-friendly creation. This design challenge is geared towards a new generation of inventors, many of whom may have received a prank box themselves while at college.
